I visited Nepal on business from August 25 to September 10, 2026.

At the airport in Nepal, I was welcomed by a golden statue of Buddha.

The beautiful golden Buddha statue welcomes visitors to Nepal. The words on the wall to the left in the photo tell us that Nepal is the birthplace of Buddha.

Here are some scenes from local festivals I happened to encounter during my trip.

September 4 was a public holiday in Nepal.

It was Krishna Janmashtami, a festival celebrating the birth of the Hindu deity Krishna.

Near my hotel was a square with a UNESCO World Heritage-listed Hindu temple, where I had a chance to take a few photos of the festivities. The day also marked a Jatra (a traditional religious procession) celebrated enthusiastically by the Newar people of Patan. The city was filled with festive energy throughout the day.

Many people gathered in the square surrounded by temples.

The temples, decorated with traditional wood carvings, were especially striking. People filled the square, creating a lively holiday atmosphere quite different from an ordinary day.

Stalls near the temples displayed flowers, fruits, and other offerings for the gods. The colorful displays and bustling crowds reflected the festival’s deep roots in local culture.

Although I visited Nepal for work, seeing these scenes offered a valuable opportunity to experience the local culture.

Even though my visit to the festival was brief, it left a lasting impression on me.

I hope to continue sharing the sights and cultures I encounter through my work overseas.
