Traffic measurement experiments on motorcycles were conducted at the Saigon River Tunnel in Ho Chi Minh City in December 2022. Here’s a Q & A:(You can read more about how this happened in the article on 2022/11/04.)Q: How do you manage the Measuring Equipment?A: I brought it from Japan by hand carry. We had heard in the past that there were problems that these devices could not be brought into the country, so we prepared customs clearance documents, non-applicable certificates and certificates of approval for experiments from the authorities in advance. (Able to bring it but difficult to collect all clearance documents)
Q: How was the Measurements?A: It was affected by few instant outages, but we achieved our original goal. As for the construction work, there was no problem because the local construction company carried it out smoothly.
Q: What is your Next Plan?A: Based on the data, a motorcycle detection and measurement algorithm is built to clarify traffic conditions in the Saigon River tunnel. Accordingly, we will propose an optimal ventilation control system that achieves both energy saving and improvement of tunnel environment.
The development and research results of this project are planned to be presented at a science and technology seminar hosted by the Vietnam Bridge Road Association. (May 2023)
